Comfort Blanket
Comfort Blanket explores the material relationship between homelessness and cardboard, how people with so little find worth and function in materials many deem "disposable". The sculpture appears to be fading into the surroundings... half visible, half invisible. It stands as a representation of peoples attitude towards the homeless, quietly questioning, how many times have you walked by as if you've seen nothing?
This piece of work sparked a continued line of inquiry that would evolve into my practice today, as discussions of empathy, compassion and our connection to depictions of the human form continue to permeate my artistic practice, I often come back to this piece of work as the catalyst of it all.
